The role supports project management by providing accurate planning, progress tracking, forecasting, and reporting to ensure alignment between time, cost, and resource allocation. The Planning Engineer ensures that all scheduling activities comply with company standards and client expectations.Job Responsibilities Prepare detailed project schedules (baseline, revised, and recovery schedules) in line with contract requirements.Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and integrate them with Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS).Load resources and costs into project schedules where required.Monitor project progress and update schedules on a weekly and monthly basis.Identify critical paths, float analysis, and potential delays, and recommend mitigation measures.Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Procurement, and Cost Control teams to gather accurate progress data.Ensure that schedules reflect actual site progress and approved changes.Prepare and submit periodic planning reports including S-curves, histograms, and look-ahead schedules.Conduct delay analysis and assess time impact of variations and change orders.Support preparation of Extension of Time (EOT) claims and related documentation.Monitor subcontractor schedules and ensure alignment with the master project schedule.Participate in project review meetings and present planning updates to management and clients.Ensure compliance with contractual milestones and highlight risks in advance.Maintain proper documentation of schedule revisions and baseline approvals.Ensure that 90% of planning reports are submitted accurately and on time.Support risk analysis and contingency planning related to project timelines.Assist in tender planning and preparation of preliminary project schedules.Coordinate procurement schedules with material delivery timelines.Monitor productivity rates and provide recommendations for schedule improvement.Maintain planning logs and track project key performance indicators (KPIs).Support ERP integration (preferably SAP) where planning and cost systems are linked.Ensure adherence to HSE and company Integrated Management System (IMS) policies.Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives in project planning processes.Job Knowledge & SkillsStrong knowledge of project planning and scheduling principles.Proficiency in Primavera P6 is mandatory.Working knowledge of Microsoft Project is an advantage.Understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing of activities.Knowledge of delay analysis techniques and earned value management (EVM).Strong analytical and reporting skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools.Ability to interpret drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.Strong English communication and coordination skills.Job ExperienceMinimum 5–8 years of total experience.At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in project planning within construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects.EducationBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.Primavera P6 certification is preferred.PMP certification is an advantage.
