The People Strategy also applies one of the IOM Strategic Plan's cross-cutting priorities - equality, diversity and inclusion - across the strategy, and seeks to implement the guidelines set forth in IOM's Gender Equality Policy and Race Equity and Equality Strategy. IOM's staffing strategy has as a cross-cutting priority equality, diversity and inclusion, established in the IOM's Gender Equality Policy and Race Equity and Equality Strategy. IOM Colombia seeks to align itself with this strategy by formulating and implementing concrete actions, this internship seeks from the human resources unit to lay the necessary foundations (design and implementation) of strategies for equality, diversity and inclusion in the mission. .
Supervision
Under the overall supervision of the Human Resources Officer and the direct supervision of the Chief - Human Resources.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. Support the mission's resources management in the area of Human Resources.
2. Research on existing mechanisms/tools in Colombia and/or UN System that allow improving the scope of recruitment processes for people with disabilities.
3. Design strategies and mechanisms to implement initiatives, programmes and tools to support a diverse workforce and an inclusive work environment within IOM, by ensuring a strategic inclusion of DEI in relevant management processes.
4. Design strategies and mechanisms to promote that persons with disabilities are included in IOM’s.
5. In coordination with IOM Colombia's programs and units, identify opportunities for vacant positions that can be filled with people with disabilities and assist in the design of strategies for adapting the context of the mission and staff.
6. Support in recruitment processes, webinars, and trainings for cross-cutting themes.
7. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

It is expected that the selected intern will:
● Be exposed to the activities of IOM in the duty station.
● Gain understanding about the IOM and the UN System and its processes.
● Learn technical skills described in this Post Description.
● Be able to prove their dedication, skills, and capacity to work in an international setting as part of a diverse and international team.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months. of programs in human resources, in disability, Social Projects, social inclusion from an accredited academic institution.
Experience
• Experience in human resources, inclusion, diversity, and disability inclusion.
Skills
• Understanding and knowledge in the creation of knowledge management products.
• Knowledge of business administration.
• Computer literacy, especially database tools and strong Excel knowledge.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team of colleagues of varied cultural and professional backgrounds.
• Proven ability to produce quality work accurately and concisely according to set deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. All staff members are required to be fluent in one of the three languages.
For this position, fluency in English and Spanish is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, and Russian) is an advantage. Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who:
a) have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities;
b) are holding a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations and/or for whom internship is required to complete their studies; or
c) are sponsored by governmental/non governmental institutions and/or academia to work in specific areas relevant to both IOM and the sponsor.

The appointment is subject to funding confirmation. Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, and background verification and security clearances. This will be verified as part of the medical clearance process.
