Job Scope: The Clearance Officer is responsible for managing and coordinating all customs clearance operations to ensure smooth, timely, and compliant processing of inbound and outbound shipments. This includes building strong relationships with key authorities, identifying opportunities to optimize clearance processes, and implementing improvements to enhance overall efficiency.Job Requirements:Education: B.Sc. or Master’s degree in Supply chain, or similair filed Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in customs operations.Languages: Good written, spoken, and reading skills in Arabic, French, and English.Professional Knowledge: Strong understanding of Commercial Laws and Customs Regulations.Main Competencies: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work under pressure Strong follow-up, coordination, and problem-solving skills Initiative, proactivity, and high attention to detail Duties & Responsibilities Coordinate with freight forwarders, couriers, and shipping lines to obtain freight quotations and price lists for inbound and outbound shipments. Follow up with Finance and Purchasing for receiving complete sets of shipping documents required for customs clearance. Ensure smooth daily operations, controlling expenses, optimizing costs, and maintaining strong relationships with customs authorities and other concerned parties. Collect all information and documentation from the Purchasing team, ensuring accuracy and completeness for customs clearance. Follow all customs clearance procedures to ensure consistent and compliant operations while monitoring status and continuity of work. Prepare and follow up on customs duty documentation (permissions, exemptions, approvals from all relevant local authorities). Coordinate with Purchasing on the yearly renewal of customs-related documents and licenses. Stay updated on all Customs and Ministry of Health (MOH) regulations, as well as import/export laws, tariffs, duties, and restrictions. Ensure all customs clearance activities comply with legal and corporate standards. Act as a technical advisor to the Purchasing team on customs regulatory and procedural matters. Foster strong relationships with the Purchasing team and cross-functional departments to ensure timely delivery of consignments. Identify risks in documentation and propose preventive measures. Maintain confidentiality, manage conflicts, and demonstrate cost-conscious behaviors to preserve company resources. Operate and maintain tracking systems for all shipments; ensure proper filing of documents. Provide timely updates to relevant departments (Purchasing, Warehouse, Requesting Department, Finance) regarding shipment status and delays. Liaise with Ministries to facilitate seamless shipments and clearance processes. Conduct regular visits to customs authorities and proactively resolve any issues encountered. Prepare periodic reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannual, annual) and submit them to the responsible manager.
